Emirates has urged passengers not to travel to Dubai International Airport after the airline suspended all flights to and from Dubai until further notice.

Airline advises passengers to stay away from airport

In a statement issued early Monday, the Emirates said flight operations have been halted temporarily as authorities assess the situation.

The airline also advised travellers to avoid heading to the airport until further updates are issued.

“All Emirates flights to and from Dubai remain suspended until further notice. We are working closely with the relevant authorities to assess the situation and support the safe resumption of operations when possible,” the airline said.

Etihad issues limited flight schedule

Separately, Etihad Airways has released a limited flight schedule from Abu Dhabi for March 16 to accommodate passengers with existing bookings.

The airline said flights will operate to selected destinations only after comprehensive safety and security checks are completed.

Etihad has advised travellers not to go to the airport unless they have a confirmed booking or have been contacted directly by the airline.

Passengers with existing reservations will be accommodated as soon as possible, while tickets remain available through the airline’s official website.

Limited flights to operate on March 16

According to the airline, several flights from Abu Dhabi are scheduled to depart on March 16, with specific departure times and flight numbers listed in its updated schedule.

Dubai police have temporarily closed key roads leading to Dubai International Airport as emergency operations continue in the area.

Airport Road and tunnel shut for traffic

According to Dubai Police, Airport Road and the Airport Tunnel have been closed to traffic, with motorists urged to use alternative routes until further notice.

Fire near airport contained

Earlier, the Dubai Media Office said that civil defence teams had successfully contained a fire caused by the impact on one of the fuel tanks in the vicinity of the airport.

Authorities said the situation had been brought under control while safety checks continue.
