Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has rejected proposals from two countries aimed at easing tensions with the United States.
The proposals were presented during a high-level foreign policy meeting but were dismissed by the Supreme Leader, the official said.
Sources familiar with the meeting revealed that Khamenei emphasised that “this is not the time for peace,” adding that both the United States and Israel must be defeated.
Sources say that during the meeting, Khamenei stated that this is not the time for peace and that the United States and Israel must be defeated.
The official added that Khamenei also said the United States should pay compensation for the damage it has caused to Iran.
Israel claims Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani killed
According to Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, the strikes also targeted and killed Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Basij paramilitary force, along with other senior figures. However, Iran has not yet confirmed either of the claims.
If verified, Larijani’s reported death would make him the most senior Iranian figure killed since the reported killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on the first day of the US-Israeli war on Iran, which began on February 28.
Speaking in a televised statement, Katz said: “Larijani and the Basij commander were eliminated overnight and joined Khamenei, the head of the annihilation programme, along with all those eliminated from the axis of evil in the depths of hell,” Morocco World News reported.
