Islamabad to get state-of-the-art national bus terminal

A state-of-the-art national bus terminal will be constructed on 31 acres of land in Islamabad sector I-11/4, featuring capacity for over 100 buses along with commercial areas, petrol pumps and dedicated parking facilities.

The project will also include service stations, taxi stands and maintenance workshops to support transport operations. Officials said the terminal will be connected to 11th Avenue in the future to improve traffic flow and accessibility.

The proposed site and traffic management plans were reviewed during a meeting at CDA headquarters, chaired by Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman of CDA and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that the best possible design be developed for the project. He emphasised that an open competition among architects should be held to further improve the design and that the services of a consultant should be acquired as soon as possible.

He also instructed that an effective financial and operational model be prepared for both the construction and operation of the terminal, and that all relevant stakeholders be consulted to ensure the project’s successful execution.

Muhammad Ali Randhawa stated that the construction of the national bus terminal in Islamabad will provide improved travel facilities for citizens. He added that the primary objective of these measures is to ensure the provision of the best possible services to the residents of the federal capital.
