Ramazan Relief Package: 89% beneficiaries receive payments

PM Shehbaz Sharif reaffirms solidarity with Kuwait

The government has paid 89% of beneficiaries under the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Package 2026, officials said after a review meeting chaired by Shehbaz Sharif.

During the meeting, the prime minister appreciated the institutions involved for distributing funds transparently to deserving people. He called social protection wallets a major step forward in improving financial technology and transparency in Pakistan. He also directed authorities to route all payments under the Benazir Income Support Programme through this system.

Officials told the meeting that they have completed more than 1.95 million digital transactions so far under the package.

The government has also launched a wide awareness campaign across print, electronic, and social media to inform beneficiaries. Officials said this effort is helping eligible people get timely information.

They added that the 9999 helpline has received 1.7 million calls, while authorities have sent 2.7 million SMS messages about the package.

Officials said social protection wallets are also helping reduce the gender gap in access to digital financial services.

Senior cabinet members, including Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahsan Iqbal, Attaullah Tarar, and Shaza Fatima Khawaja, attended the meeting.
