Despite the official announcement by the Central Ruet e Hilal Committee that the moon had not been sighted, various mosques in Bajaur district have announced that Eid ul Fitr would be celebrated on Friday, according to reports on Thursday.
According to local sources, announcements were made on the loudspeakers of mosques in different areas of Bajaur to celebrate Eid ul Fitr on Friday, March 20.
After this announcement, preparations have started at the local level to celebrate Eid tomorrow.
It should be noted that the Central Ruet e Hilal Committee has announced that the moon has not been sighted anywhere in the country and has announced that Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday, March 21.
Shawwal’s moon not sighted
The Central Ruet e Hilal Committee has announced on Thursday that the first day of Eid ul Fitr will fall on Saturday, March 21, after the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has convened an important meeting of the Central Ruet e Hilal Committee to sight the Shawwal 1447 AH moon, marking Eid ul Fitr.
Meeting held at the Ministry’s office in Kohsar Block, Pak Secretariat, Constitution Avenue, Islamabad.
Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, Chairman of the Central Ruet e Hilal Committee, chaired the meeting.
Bangladesh, Malaysia updates on Eid moon sighting
According to the reports, the moon has not been sighted, after which it has been decided to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, March 21, in both countries.
According to Malaysian media, during the observations made to see the moon across the country, the Shawwal moon was not sighted anywhere.
Similarly, in Bangladesh, after the steps taken for sighting the crescent, no authentic evidence of the sighting of the moon was received.
