Web desk: Pakistan has strongly rejected the Indian remarks on Pak-Afghan relations.
Pakistan has termed the recent remarks by the spokesperson of India’s Ministry of External Affairs as unfortunate and a deliberate misrepresentation of the situation regarding Pakistan-Afghanistan relations.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan made the statement during his weekly press briefing in Islamabad on Friday.
He said Pakistan has noted India’s comments but stressed that New Delhi’s negative role in destabilising the region is well known.
Ambassador Khan explained that Pakistan’s recent actions along the border with Afghanistan were based purely on national security considerations and carried out in self-defence against unprovoked and destabilising activities.
He added that such remarks from India were an attempt to undermine ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability.
The spokesperson said India has no credibility to comment on others, given its own documented involvement in terrorism and extrajudicial killings inside Pakistan and abroad.
He said India’s claims of respecting Afghanistan’s sovereignty were contradicted by its history of interference in other countries’ internal affairs.
On Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, Ambassador Khan said regular diplomatic contacts are continuing, and progress is being made.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire for a peaceful, stable, inclusive, and prosperous Afghanistan.
Regarding Pakistan’s election to the United Nations Human Rights Council, Ambassador Khan said Pakistan won a seat for the 2026–2028 term with 178 votes, marking its sixth election to the body since 2006.
He said this reflects the international community’s confidence in Pakistan’s commitment to human rights and consensus-building.
Ambassador Khan added that Pakistan will continue to highlight human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine at global forums.
