At least seven people, including three children, were injured due to stray bullets in incidents of aerial firing across Karachi on Eid ul Fitr, police said on Saturday.
According to the Karachi Police Media Cell, the injured included three children, three men, and a woman. The victims were shifted to different hospitals for treatment, with four taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, two to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, and one to Civil Hospital Karachi.
Police reported that an eight-year-old boy was injured by a stray bullet near Dawood Chowrangi and shifted to Jinnah Hospital. A nine-year-old girl was wounded in a similar incident at Janjal Goth and taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
In Lyari’s Shah Baig Lane, a 13-year-old boy sustained injuries from aerial firing and was moved to Civil Hospital. Another incident occurred at Shah Latif Daud Chali near Radio Pakistan Ground, where an 18-year-old was injured.
Additionally, a 29-year-old man was hurt in Islamia Colony, while a 32-year-old man suffered injuries in New Mianwali Colony. A 32-year-old woman was also injured near Budh Bazaar and shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Police said investigations into the incidents are ongoing, adding that aerial firing leading to stray bullet injuries remains a recurring issue during celebratory occasions in the city.
Earlier today, heavy rain with thunder and lightning affected several parts of Karachi on the first day of Eid ul Fitr, disrupting prayers in various areas.
The weather in the port city also turned pleasant during the early hours of Saturday.
Intermittent showers were reported in Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Saddar, and along I.I. Chundrigar Road, with some areas experiencing intense rainfall.
Areas including Federal B Area witnessed heavy rain along with strong winds, while Malir Halt, Rifa-e-Aam, and nearby localities experienced downpours accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Rainfall was also recorded in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Johar, as dense clouds hovered over parts of the city and light to moderate showers continued at intervals.
In Defence View, electricity supply was disrupted shortly after the rain began, causing inconvenience for residents during Eid celebrations.
