Iran rejects Trump’s claims of talks, accuses US of strategic deception

Iran has rejected recent statements by US President Donald Trump regarding alleged talks between Tehran and Washington stated that the claims are aimed at reducing global energy prices and buying time to pursue military plans.

According to Iranian media, the Foreign Ministry has firmly stated that no negotiations are taking place between Iran and the United States. The ministry further asserted that Trump’s remarks are intended to influence energy markets while creating strategic time for advancing military objectives.

Iran reiterated that any proposals to ease regional tensions should be directed toward Washington, emphasising that it is not the party responsible for initiating the conflict.

Senior Iranian officials have also dismissed the claims, characterising them as psychological warfare and denying any ongoing dialogue between the two sides.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had stated on social media that the United States and Iran had held very positive and productive talks aimed at a complete and final resolution of the Middle East conflict.

He added that detailed and constructive discussions would continue throughout the week and that the US Department of War had been instructed to halt all military strikes on Iranian power plants and energy facilities for five days.

Following Trump’s announcement of a delay in attacks on Iranian power infrastructure, global crude oil prices declined. According to US media, oil prices dropped sharply before trading began in response to the announcement.

Brent crude reportedly fell from $109 per barrel to $94, before rising again to above $97. It is currently trading around $100 per barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also dropped by around 10% to $88.80 per barrel.
