PMD predicts rain, thunderstorms across the country

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted rain accompanied by windstorms and thunderstorms in different regions of the country on Wednesday, with the possibility of hailstorms in certain areas.

As per the forecast, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and central Punjab, Kashmir, and Islamabad are anticipated to experience rain along with strong winds and thunderstorms, while isolated rainfall is expected in southern Punjab and upper Sindh.

The department has issued a warning regarding heavy rain and hailstorms with lightning in isolated areas of Balochistan from tonight until March 25.

Similar weather patterns are forecasted for central and southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region, and Kashmir on the evening/night of March 25 and during the daytime of March 26.

It has been warned that hailstorms and windstorms may cause damage to standing crops in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh, while heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in central and southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan throughout the forecast period.

In Islamabad, partly cloudy weather is expected, with chances of rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms during the evening and night hours, along with the potential for hailstorms in isolated locations.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are likely in districts such as Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Swat, Dir, and surrounding areas.

Punjab is expected to remain partly cloudy, with rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms, as well as isolated hailstorms in Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sialkot, and other districts, primarily during the evening and night.
