With Grand Theft Auto VI expected later this year, fans are still waiting for a deeper look at the wider cast set to appear in the story mode. While trailers have introduced the main characters, many are now turning their attention to familiar faces who could return.
Developer Rockstar Games has a long history of bringing back characters from older titles. Grand Theft Auto V featured several callbacks, and many expect the same approach this time.
Familiar names linked to Vice City return
One of the most talked about names is Phil Cassidy, the weapons dealer from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. A gun shop seen in early footage appears to reference him, though it is unclear if it is the same character or simply a nod.
Another strong candidate is Donald Love, a mysterious businessman last seen in Grand Theft Auto III. His fate was never confirmed, leaving room for a possible return.
Radio personality Lazlow Jones has also been a staple across the series. Despite leaving Rockstar in 2020, fans believe his voice could still feature in in-game radio.
Characters whose stories could continue
Some characters could return due to unfinished storylines. Jerry Kapowitz, who found a fortune in diamonds in Grand Theft Auto IV, hinted at moving to Vice City. That detail has led many to expect at least a brief appearance.
Elizabeta Torres is another possibility. The drug dealer received a long prison sentence, and with parts of GTA VI reportedly set in a women’s prison, her return could fit naturally into the story.
Government agent Agent ULP has appeared in multiple titles and could once again draw new protagonists into covert operations.
Fan favourites could make brief returns
Wealthy developer Yusuf Amir and hacker Lester Crest remain fan favourites, though any return may be limited to short appearances.
Meanwhile, Roman Bellic is often mentioned due to his unresolved future, though past story choices may complicate his return.
Finally, Trevor Philips remains one of the series’ most iconic figures. Actor Steven Ogg has suggested he could return under certain conditions, though no confirmation has been given.
As the release window approaches, Rockstar is expected to reveal more details. Until then, speculation around returning characters continues to build excitement among fans.
