At least five people, including four young girls, lost their lives after the roof of a house collapsed because of the heavy rainfall in the Havelian area of Abbottabad, rescue officials confirmed on Monday.
According to Rescue authorities, the incident occurred due to constant rain, which made the structure of the house weaker so the roof collapsed on the occupants.
Rescue teams immediately arrived at the scene and started an operation, recovering five bodies from the rubble. Four wounded persons were also dragged, alive, to a hospital in the neighbourhood for medical assistance.
Officials said relief activities were completed after clearing the debris, and the local authorities urged the people to take precautionary measures during continued rains to prevent similar incidents.
In a separate development, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released an initial report on the damage caused by recent rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
At least nine people have died and 47 others have been injured in rain-related incidents across KP.
The report covers the period since March 25, when intermittent rainfall began affecting different parts of the province.
Officials said the dead included eight children and one woman. Among the injured were 26 men and 21 children.
Houses damaged in affected districts
Authorities said several incidents of roof and wall collapses were reported due to the rain. So far, at least six houses have been partially damaged.
The worst-affected areas include Bannu and North Waziristan, where rescue efforts are ongoing.
Rescue and relief efforts under way
According to officials, teams from Rescue 1122, along with district administrations and other agencies, are working together to assist those affected.
The PDMA said coordination between departments remains active, and relief operations are continuing.
Authorities have directed local administrations to provide immediate assistance, including relief supplies, to affected families.
Financial support for families of those who died, particularly in Bannu, has also been recommended.
More rain expected
Officials said rainfall is likely to continue in parts of the province until Tuesday.
The PDMA has advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from vulnerable or tourist areas during the current weather conditions.

An emergency operations centre remains active, and authorities say people can call the helpline 1700 for information or assistance.
Residents have been urged to follow official advisories as the situation develops.
