The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a new timetable for public schools across the province, introducing revised school hours along with measures aimed at improving students’ moral and academic development.
According to an official notification issued in Peshawar, attendance in primary schools will begin at 7:30 am, while school dismissal will take place at 1:35 pm.
The new schedule makes moral training activities mandatory for students. Schools have been directed to organise speeches, practical activities, and sessions focusing on character building and ethical education during assemblies.
As per the new instructions, students will receive moral education through speeches on three days of the week and through skits or tableau performances on the remaining three days.
School heads have also been instructed to hold a weekly literary gathering on the last working day of each week to promote literary and creative skills among students.
Following the literary session, the final three periods of the day will be dedicated to staff meetings and completion of official registers, the notification stated.
The directive further said that in cases of teacher shortages or long leave, school heads and subject specialists will conduct classes to ensure continuity of education.
All District Education Officers have been directed to strictly monitor and ensure implementation of the new timetable in schools across the province.
Govt to train teachers for new E-marking system
In a separate development, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwan set to train teachers on e-marking in educational boards.
In this regard, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Swat will also design training workshops in different educational boards in the province.
This is meant to equip the marking rubrics that will be used to assess examination papers on e-marking system and improve the professional capacity of teachers.
In this regard, nomination of experienced teachers of respective subjects has been sought in each board by way of a formal letter that has been sent to the Chairman of the Peshawar Board.
