Nora Fatehi has landed in controversy after her song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke from the Kannada film KD Devil sparked outrage over its allegedly obscene lyrics. The matter has now taken a serious legal turn, as a group of 10 lawyers approached the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), demanding that authorities cancel her work permit and deport her from India.
Noora Fatehi will be deported?
People have filed complaints against Noora Fatehi with several government departments, including the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, CBFC, IT Ministry, and the National Commission for Women (NCW). The NCW has taken the matter seriously.
Critics say the Hindi version of the song has very obscene and inappropriate lyrics.
Lawyers have demanded that Nora Fatehi be deported, saying the song violates public morality and disrespects women. Although Sanjay Dutt also appears in the song, most criticism has targeted Nora, raising questions about selective backlash.
In their petition, the lawyers have cited several laws, including the Foreigners Act 1946, Passport Act 1920, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Indecent Representation of Women Act 1986, and the IT Act 2000.
Nora Fatehi Responds as Controversy Deepens
Critics say the song promotes obscenity, objectifies women, and can harm social values. As the backlash grows, the government has reportedly banned the song, bringing more attention to the issue.
In response, Nora Fatehi shared a video on social media, saying she did not know the meaning of the lyrics because she originally shot the song in Kannada several years ago.
Nora Fatehi said she accepted the project because it was part of a big film and also featured Sanjay Dutt. She added that she thought the song was a remake of Nayak Nahi Khalnayak Hoon Main.
Nora claimed the team later made the Hindi version without informing her or taking her approval. “I had no role in the Hindi version. I don’t speak Kannada and relied on the team’s explanation,” she said.
