Punjab govt launches T-Cash card

T-cash card punjab

The Punjab government has introduced a new “T-Cash” card, designed to make travel and everyday payments easier through a single system.

The initiative was launched under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister (CM), Maryam Nawaz Sharif, as part of the Vision Transport 2030 programme.

Officials say the card will allow users to pay for transport and other services without the need for cash or separate payment methods.

Metro system gets digital

The announcement comes alongside efforts to digitise metro services in the federal capital.

Authorities plan to gradually replace cash-based systems with digital options.

Ticket vending machines have been installed at metro stations, allowing passengers to buy tokens or recharge cards through self-service.

Commuters can also use a mobile app to scan QR codes, pay fares, and top up balances using debit or credit cards.

Travel, shop with one card

The T-Cash card is intended to work as a multi-purpose payment tool.

Users can tap the card at metro stations to pay fares, removing the need to stand in long queues for tokens.

Officials say the system is designed to make daily travel quicker and more convenient, especially for regular commuters.

In addition to transport, the card can also be used at selected government-run grocery stores.

This allows users to make purchases without carrying cash or relying on a separate debit card.

Distribution and availability

Authorities have set up distribution desks at several metro stations, including Saddar, 6th Road, Kashmir Highway, and Pak Secretariat.

The government says the aim is to create a fully cashless public transport system over time, while also expanding the use of digital payments in everyday services.

Officials describe the T-Cash card as a step towards a more connected payment system, where a single card can be used for multiple purposes.

They say the system could reduce reliance on cash, simplify payments, and improve access to transport and basic services for commuters.
