Gandapur’s Non-Bailable Arrest Warrants Issued in Liquor Case

Ali Amin Gandapur, Arrest Warrants, Liquor Case,

ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur in a case pertaining to recovery of liquor and illegal weapons.

The warrant was issued after his repeated absence from court hearings, with Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan directing police to arrest Gandapur and present him before the court without delay.

The case against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader was registered at the Bara Kahu Police Station in the federal capital. The next hearing has been scheduled for October 28.

Earlier on October 16, an Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi issued arrest warrants for Aleema Khan, sister of PTI Founder Imran Khan in November 26 protest case.

As per details, the sister of former prime minister Imran Khan was to be formally charged today but failed to appear before the court, leading to the issuance of her arrest warrants.

The court ordered that Aleema Khan be arrested and produced before it on October 11.

Speaking on the occasion, Prosecutor Zaheer Shah said that since Aleema’s lawyers did not have the power of attorney, therefore, under section 22, they could not give arguments in the case.

It is pertinent to mention here that the case is of November 2024, when PTI supporters launched a protest march from Peshawar to Islamabad. The movement was led by Bushra Bibi, wife of Imran Khan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

The march reached the outskirts of Islamabad on November 25, but the following day violent clashes erupted between protesters and law enforcement agencies. Several people, including police officers, were reportedly injured, and public and private property was damaged.
