Actress Ayesha Omar’s film “Mera Lyari” has been included in the 28th edition of the UK Asian Film Festival, where it will be screened on May 2.

The story of the film revolves around Lyari’s sports culture, local civilisation, and women’s empowerment, presenting a different and positive image of the area.

The film was initially planned to be released under the name “Behnaz”, however, after the release of the Indian propaganda film “Dhurandar”, its name was changed to “Mera Lyari”, after which it remained in the news.

The Sindh government described this film by director Abu Aleeha as a response to the Indian anti-Pakistan film.

Provincial Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon also indicated in January the nationwide release of this film, however, it could not be possible. Now “Mera Lyari” will be released across Pakistan on May 8.

Through this film, Dananeer Mubeen is making her entry into the film industry, while the cast includes Nayar Ijaz, Samiya Mumtaz, Adnan Shah, among other actors.

In the film, Ayesha Omar has performed acting duties as well as served as an executive producer.

Actress Ayesha Omar took her first step into the film world as a producer in 2024 with her film “Tich Button”.

It is worth remembering that in 2022, director Abu Aleeha had already won the Best Director award at the same festival for his film “Javed Iqbal”, while actor Yasir Hussain also received the Best Actor award for the lead role of the notorious serial killer Javed Iqbal.
