The Iranian Foreign Minister (FM), Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, in his statement has said that we were inches away from the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

According to the post on X, formerly known as Twitter, FM Abbas Araghchi said, “In intensive talks at highest level in 47 years, Iran engaged with the US in good faith to end war.”

He added, “But when just inches away from “Islamabad MoU”, we encountered maximalism, shifting goalposts, and blockade. Zero lessons earned Good will begets good will. Enmity begets enmity.”

Islamabad talks

The history repeated itself as the US and Iran were set to face eachother at the single table for negotiations since 1979.

After the unwavering diplomatic efforts of the Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, and Field Marshal, Syed Asim Munir, the US and Iran agreed to negotiate for peace talks at the ongoing war for 40 days.

Both of the countries send their delegations in Islamabad.

This was a two days session, as both states put their demand and conditions in front of eachother.

The Iranian delegation included, FM Abbas Araghchi, the Speaker of the Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, along with 68 other members.

On the other hand, the US Vice President, JD Vance, along with the US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and former advisor to the US President, Jared Kushner, attended the Islamabad talks.

The Deputy PM and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal, Syed Asim Munir, the Federal Minister of Internal Affairs, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, and the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, welcomed the guests at the airport.
