The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to start the Ehsaas Fuel Support Scheme for commercial vehicles, on Monday.

After a big increase in petrol prices due to tensions involving the United States (US), Israel and Iran, both federal and provincial governments are giving fuel relief to people, from motorcyclists to transport operators.

Under this scheme, the KP government will give monthly fuel subsidies to commercial vehicle owners, according to the Transport Department.

Bus owners will get up to Rs100,000 per month, large vehicles Rs80,000, and trucks Rs70,000.

Minibuses will get Rs40,000, while vans will receive Rs35,000 per month.

The application process will be fully online to make it easy and transparent.

Punjab bikers subsidy project

Separately, the Punjab government has asked for Rs24 billion for a bikers subsidy project.

Sources say the Finance Department has sent a summary to the Chief Minister for approval.

After approval, the funds will be released for the project. The government plans to give Rs2,000 per month to 12.5 million bikers.

It also plans to give Rs100 per litre petrol subsidy to bikers. More than 8 million bikers have already registered.

Since 1980, around 50 million motorcycles have been registered in Punjab. The subsidy will start after the registration process is completed.

Petrol price reduced

The petrol price has been reduced by Rs12. An official notification has been issued by the government of Pakistan to confirm the reduction.

As per the notification issued, the prices of petrol have decreased by Rs12.

The new price of petrol is 366.58. There was a decrease of Rs11.83 in the petrol price.

The government has also announced a major cut in diesel prices, by decreasing the diesel price from Rs520.35 to Rs378.41. The price has been decreased by Rs134.81.

Additionally, the public and goods transporters across Pakistan have announced a reduction in fares after a drop in petroleum product prices.
