WhatsApp is in the process of developing a new feature that will enable users to monitor the activity on their linked devices in real time, with the goal of improving account security and increasing user control.
The upcoming feature is part of WhatsApp‘s continuous efforts to enhance multi-device functionality while tackling rising security concerns.
As users increasingly access their accounts across various platforms, the demand for improved visibility and control has become more critical.
In the past, WhatsApp has introduced chat lock support for linked devices, which allows users to secure their conversations with a passcode directly on companion devices.
With the upcoming update, users will have the ability to see when their linked devices are active without the need to manually check the Linked Devices section.
At present, users are required to navigate through settings to review active sessions or to remove any unknown devices.
The new feature will make this process easier by providing real-time insights into device activity.
Additionally, WhatsApp is developing a notification system that will inform users if their account is being accessed at the same time on another linked device.
This will assist users in quickly identifying any unauthorised access.
The alert will only be triggered when both the primary and linked devices are active at the same time, also reducing unnecessary notifications during regular usage.
