Saudi diplomat, Prince Dr. Abdullah bin Khaled bin Saud Al-Kabeer, on Tuesday held a consultative meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Muhammad Ishaq Dar in Islamabad.
The meeting also involved discussions among Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey.
Discussions with the Saudi diplomat focused on the latest regional developments and strategies to improve joint coordination between Pakistan and other Muslim nations, aimed at ensuring security and stability, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
Over the weekend, Pakistan facilitated significant talks between American and Iranian negotiators in Islamabad, following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire in the regional conflict that commenced on February 28.
However, the negotiators were unable to reach an agreement regarding Tehran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, as well as the control of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passage for international shipping that remains predominantly obstructed by Iran.
Iranian Ambassador gives opinion on Islamabad talks
Earlier, the Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadem, said that the Islamabad talks is not an event but a process.
According to his recent tweet on X, Reza Amiri said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the friendly and brotherly country of Pakistan, especially H.E. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, for their initiative of goodwill and good office for the talks.”
The Iranian delegation included Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs further stated on Sunday that no one had expected the talks with the US to reach an agreement in just one day.
In view of the situation, Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said, “Naturally, from the beginning, we should not have expected to reach an agreement in a single session. No one had such an expectation.”
