The Punjab government has approved the development of two underpasses valued at Rs. 3.08 billion along GT Road in Gujar Khan, as reported by officials.
Officials from the Punjab Highway Department indicated that one underpass will be constructed at Guliana More, while the other will be situated near the Technical Training College.
This initiative is designed to enhance traffic flow within the town and diminish the occurrence of accidents on the heavily trafficked highway.
The proposed demolitions have sparked concerns among small traders who operate micro-scale businesses in these kiosks, with many expressing fears of losing their main source of income.
The traders have reached out to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, urging the government to designate land for the rebuilding of kiosks and small shops for the affected vendors, enabling them to sustain their livelihoods with dignity.
