Popular Pakistani journalist Iqrar-ul-Hassan has made a huge announcement on Wednesday, revealing that he has decided to leave ARY News after a 21 year long journey.
He took to the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to announce his resignation from the channel.
Why did Iqrar-ul-Hassan leave ARY
According to the details, he left ARY so he would be able to be fully committed to his newly launched Pakistan Awaam Raj Tehreek political movement.
The movement seeks to replace elite and dynastic politics with people’s rule. This is expected to be done through internal democracy, merit, and middle-class leadership.
Iqrar-ul-Hassan started his journey from field reporting and then newscasting when ARY was broadcasting from Dubai, he said.
Later, he gained fame by presenting a program called “Sar-e-Aam” and became a prominent figure in Pakistani media, he said.
Talking about his decision, the popular anchor person wrote, “I had to choose between ARY and Awam Raaj Movement, so I chose Awam Raaj.”
“A splendid twenty-one-year journey filled with so many memories came to a splendid end. Thank you to Sar-e-Aam program for all the love and prayers,” he added further.

In his resignation message, Iqrar-ul-Hassan said that he is ending a wonderful journey of twenty-one years with many memories, which he spent with ARY News.
He thanked ARY News and said that this journey was very memorable and successful for him.
Last year, in December 2025, he announced the formation of his own political party while addressing a youth audience.
He announced that the new party was set to be officially launched on January 15, 2025, along with its registration procedure.
Iqrar-ul-Hassan also pledged to hold no party office himself. Highlighting his vision for politics, he said, “Political parties are not shops that transfer ownership after one person’s death. They are strong institutions.”
The anchorperson also claimed to challenge personality-driven politics and work toward building a ‘real Naya Pakistan.’

This decision has drawn mixed public reactions, with most praising his long journey.
