Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, has said that US-Iran talks are nearly complete and hopes for a ceasefire between the countries.
He said that Turkiye remains “optimistic” that the two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States, set to expire on Wednesday, will be extended.
The next round of US-Iran talks is also likely to be held in Pakistan, said the President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, according to an interview with the New York Post.
“You should stay there, really, because something could be happening over the next two days, and we’re more inclined to go there,” Trump said to the journalist, said Trump a few days ago.
Arrangements have begun in Islamabad for the second round of US-Iran talks.
The district administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have announced the suspension of all public, private, and goods transport in the two cities until further notice.
Although the restrictions have not been reported to be linked to a particular development, the timing triggered speculations that the measures may have possibly got any relationship with Islamabad Talks 2.0.
These processes are generally used on a large scale to maintain security and control during high-level diplomatic or strategic engagements. No official confirmation has been made in this respect yet, however.
The metro bus service operating between Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been completely suspended following directives from the district administration.
