As the fluctuations in the petroleum prices continue, the effects of inflation persist continuously.
Due to the continuous inflation it has been recorded that ghee and oil have prices have gotten significantly higher in the wholesale market.
As per the grocery merchants, the price of first grade oil and ghee per kilogram has increased by Rs30. This means that the price has risen from Rs560 to Rs590 per kilogram.
The second grade oil has seen an even bigger price hike. It has increased by Rs35. It was previously priced at Rs510 and now has increased to Rs545 per litre.
The price of second rate ghee has also increased. It has seen a price hike of Rs25 per kilogram. The previous price was Rs510 and now it has increased to Rs535 per kilogram.
The traders have suggested that due to the continuous rise in price, the burden of inflation on ordinary consumers continues to increase.
Some explanation has been given by the Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA) as to why the prices have increased.
According to them the recent rise in petroleum prices has made the cost of production in the mills very high.
The price of production and transportation of ghee by producers has increased exponentially.
Officials of PVMA have indicated that the increasing cost of operation compelled the manufacturers to think of increasing the prices.
The association has also called on the government to set up a committee to come up with solutions that will help in controlling prices and relieve consumers.
It seems that consumers will have to face the increased prices of cooking oil and ghee for a while.
