A significant increase has been recorded in Pakistan’s exports to Kenya in the first nine months (July-March) of the fiscal year (FY26). This was reported to a private news channel on Tuesday.

The official data states that the exports of Pakistan reached $319.9 million. It is a 32 per cent increase when compared to $251.6 million during the same period last year.
The remarkable export performance with Kenya places the country among Pakistan’s top five export destinations globally.

The country is now also firmly established as the largest export destination in Africa.

The President of the Kenya Business Council, Rafique Suleman, the former chairman of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) stated that Pakistan’s footprint is growing in the Kenyan market.

He further added that it is highly beneficial for the country’s export sector.

A pivotal role has been played by rice exports in driving this growth. Pakistan now has access through Mombasa. This has enabled Pakistani products to not just penetrate into Kenya but also the broader East African region.

Currently, Pakistan is not just importing rice to Kenya but a diversified range of products. These products include pharmaceuticals, clothing, garments, textiles, sports goods, software solutions and IT services. All of these are steadily gaining traction in the East Asian market.

The Port of Mombasa is very important as it serves as a key trade gateway for the region. It has been facilitating the movement of Pakistani goods to neighbouring countries such as South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda and even beyond.

It has amplified Pakistan’s export reach.

Rafique Suleman also thanked the support given by the government of Pakistan and the key stakeholders.

He also acknowledged the leadership of Federal Minister of Commerce. His policy direction has significantly contributed to export growth.

He also appreciated the efforts of Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Ibrahim Khan, and Commercial Counsellor Adila Younis in strengthening bilateral trade relations.
