The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus Authority has restored metro and feeder bus services across all routes in the cities on Wednesday. The step has reduced travel difficulties for commuters in the twin cities.
Islamabad Rawalpindi Metro services
Now, the remote areas of the twin cities and major educational institutions have also been connected to the main metro network, according to the new schedule issued by the authority.
According to the new schedule, all four main lines will remain functional from 6 AM to 10 PM.
The frequency of buses from Saddar to Secretariat or Red Line has been kept very short. The buses will be available every 2 to 3 minutes, according to the reports.
From the Faiz Ahmed Faiz road, buses will run every 4 to 6 minutes on the N5 or Orange Line. The service will be provided every 10 minutes from PIMS to Gulberg or Blue Line and Bhara Kahu or the Green Line.
Feeder bus services
The authority has also restored more than 20 feeder routes that will connect areas like NUST, Khanna Pul, Media Town, Humak and Ari Syedan with metro stations.
The airport route has been kept operational 24 hours a day for the convenience of international passengers. Here, buses will be available every 60 minutes from 10 PM to 6 AM.
In addition to this, special electric buses have been introduced from densely populated areas of Rawalpindi, including Saddar, Fawara Chowk and Marri to Bhatta Chowk and Gauri Town.
These will be available every 10 minutes. Further, in order to guide passengers, QR codes have been displayed at the stations.
Through these QR codes, passengers can easily see which the latest schedule can be viewed on mobile phones.
For some time now, several feeder routes have been disrupted due to repair work or other reasons. This has forced the commuters to go for expensive options.
Suspended Metro routes
The administration has temporarily suspended the routes from PIMS to Faizabad, from Bari Imam to Quaid-e-Azam University and from Khanna Pul to T-Chowk.
According to the reports, buses on route numbers 1, 10 and 13 will run at an interval of every 30 minutes during rush hours.
