The Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz has strongly criticised the war of US against Iran. He has called it devoid of purpose and completely unnecessary on Sunday according to a private media channel.
After a high-level European Union Summit, he was speaking to journalists in Berlin that if the conflict escalates it risks triggering broader global instability.
It was noted by him that the repercussions of the rising tensions are no longer confined to one region. The repercussions are being felt across Asia, Europe and the United States.
During his remarks it was emphasised by Merz the importance of European Unity especially in the face of mounting geopolitical threats and the worrisome economic conditions.
He urged for a renewed commitment to dialogue and diplomacy and argued that military escalation is not a viable solution.
It was revealed by the German Chancellor that all 27 European Union member states have engaged in extensive deliberations for the last two days.
The deliberations not only focused on Iran but also on a range of current and upcoming global challenges.
The aim of the emergency summit was to formulate a cohesive European strategy that can address the broader economic European uncertainties and the immediate crisis that is affecting the international system.
Merz also highlighted the need for Europe to adjust to evolving global dynamics and increasingly complex economic realities.
Echoing his stance, several officials present at the summit underscored that a negotiated settlement remains the most effective path forward in resolving the Iran crisis.
The discussions reflected a shared concern that continued military confrontation could deepen instability, making diplomatic engagement more urgent than ever.
