Two young men drown at Keenjhar Lake

Two young men from Karachi lost their lives after drowning in Keenjhar Lake during a picnic in Thatta on Saturday.

According to reports, Khalil and Zain visited the lake to spend their day at the popular picnic spot. During the outing, both young men entered the water for swimming but failed to stay afloat and drowned. The incident quickly turned a routine recreational trip into a tragic loss.

Authorities identified the victims as Khalil, a resident of Landhi, and Zain, who belonged to Surjani Town, both areas of Karachi. As soon as the incident was reported, local divers and rescue teams rushed to the site and immediately launched a search operation. After efforts lasting several hours, they successfully recovered both bodies from the lake.

Officials then completed the necessary legal and medical formalities before dispatching the bodies to their hometowns for burial. Families and relatives mourned the sudden loss, while locals expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy.

The incident has once again highlighted serious concerns about safety measures at Keenjhar Lake. Visitors often enter the water without proper precautions, despite known risks.

Authorities face increasing calls to improve safety arrangements, enforce stricter guidelines, and raise awareness to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
