Get Metro EV scooters in less than Rs2 lac

Customers looking for Metro Electric Vehicle (EV) scooters can now buy their new Metro EV for less than Rs 2 lac.

As interest in electric vehicles grows in Pakistan, budget-conscious buyers are increasingly comparing affordable scooters as an alternative to petrol-powered bikes.

Two models currently attracting attention are the Metro T9 Eco and the Metro T9 Sport, both produced by Metro.

Both scooters are priced below Rs200,000 and are aimed at daily commuters, including office workers, students and delivery riders.

While the two models appear similar at first glance, there are some key differences in performance, battery setup and warranty.

The T9 Eco is priced at Rs174,000, while the T9 Sport costs Rs184,000. Both models have a claimed top speed of 50 kilometres per hour.

The lower-priced Eco version is designed with range in mind. It uses a 60V 26Ah battery and claims a range of up to 130 kilometres on a single charge.

By comparison, the T9 Sport uses a higher-voltage 72V 27Ah battery and offers a claimed range of 110 kilometres.

Although its range is lower on paper, the scooter comes with a more powerful motor, which is expected to provide better acceleration and stronger performance when carrying a passenger or climbing inclines.

The T9 Eco is fitted with a 600W to 1200W motor, while the Sport version uses a 1000W to 1600W setup.

This makes the Sport more suitable for riders who need extra power for heavier use or frequent travel in traffic.

Warranty is another difference between the two. The T9 Sport comes with a 24-month battery and motor warranty, compared with 18 months for the Eco model.

Industry observers say rising fuel prices have pushed more consumers to consider electric options for short-distance travel. However, buyers are often weighing upfront cost, charging range and maintenance support before making the switch.

For those focused on lower cost and longer range, the T9 Eco may appeal more.

Riders looking for stronger performance and a longer warranty may prefer the T9 Sport despite the slightly higher price.
