Prominent social worker Malik Zia shot dead in Bajaur

On Sunday morning, unknown assailants fatally shot a prominent social figure, Malik Zia Salarzai, in the Bajaur district.

According to police reports, the incident occurred in the Kohi Dando area of Salarzai tehsil, where unidentified attackers opened fire, specifically targeting the social worker.

He sustained critical injuries during the assault and was immediately transported to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival.

Malik Zia Salarzai was highly regarded for his extensive contributions to social welfare. He was actively involved in initiatives designed to help the poor and oppressed of the community.

Additionally, he was recognised for his support in the construction of mosques and religious schools, as well as for organising fundraising efforts to supply educational materials for religious studies.

His death has raised widespread concern and sorrow throughout the district.

Local community members have called upon the government and law enforcement agencies to take swift action and ensure the arrests of those accountable for the attack.

The police have gathered evidence from the crime scene and initiated an investigation to arrest those responsible for this cowardly act.

KP police assist in Rearehabilitating former prisoners

Earlier, it was mutually decided by KP authorities that in order to help former detainees avoid reoffending and return to society as productive, law-abiding citizens, Haripur police and the Human Development Organisation (HDO-Pakistan) would jointly arrange psychological rehabilitation sessions for people who had completed their sentences or whose cases were still under trial.

According to the DPO, the main purpose of the enforcement of law and order in the society was to protect citizens’ life, dignity, and honor, as he believes that protecting basic human rights and dignity is also a priority for the police departments.
