The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has unveiled the schedule for nationwide trials to pick the junior and senior squads ahead of the Under-18 Asia Cup and the FIH Pro League, with selections set to take place later this May.

This decision was made after mutual consultation between the PHF Professional Development Committee, the National Selection Committee, and the head coaches, with final approval from the PHF President. According to a notification issued by the federation, training camps for both teams are currently in full swing.

The Pakistan Under-18 team’s camp is being held at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, while the national senior team’s camp is underway at the National Hockey Stadium.

The trials to finalise the Under-18 Asia Cup squad will take place on May 9 and 10 at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad. Members of the National Selection Committee and the junior team’s head coach will be present during these trials.

First phase of senior team trials to be held on May 12

Meanwhile, the first phase of the senior team trials will be held on May 12 and 13 at 4:00 PM at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore. The head coach of the senior team and all members of the selection committee will be in attendance.

According to the PHF spokesperson, the senior team trials will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, on May 12 and 13, the best players will be shortlisted from a pool of 60 players currently attending the training camp.
