The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced that two housing societies located in Zone 4 of Islamabad, namely Shaheen Town and Islamabad Green Paradise, have been deemed illegal, resulting in the sealing of their offices.
CDA officials reported that, in the initial phase, all administrative offices of these illegal housing societies, which include site offices and public dealing offices, have been sealed.
This includes Shaheen Town Lehtrar Road and Islamabad Green Paradise, where offices set up for administrative and promotional activities have been closed.
This action was undertaken due to breaches of the Capital Development Authority Ordinance 1960 (Sections 49-C, 46, and 46-B), the ICT Zoning Regulations 1992 (Clauses 5(1) and 5(3)), and the “Planning and Development Regulations for Private Housing Schemes 2023” (Sections 40–42), primarily concerning the unlawful sale and purchase of plots.
CDA warns citizens against buying property in illegal housing societies
CDA officials mentioned that the relevant departments have consistently alerted the public through advertisements to refrain from purchasing plots in illegal housing schemes and to ensure that a society has secured a valid NOC from CDA prior to making any investments.
Citizens are also encouraged to verify the current status of housing societies and approved layout plans on the official CDA website.
CDA has further instructed the relevant departments to stop the supply of electricity and gas connections to these unlawful schemes.
Additionally, a strict ban has been imposed on the purchase and sale of land and residential units within these projects.
