Rawalpindi: Security guards of allied hospitals protest against non-payment of salaries

Security guards protest in Rawalpindi over unpaid salaries

Security guards working at three major public sector hospitals of Rawalpindi on Tuesday have come out onto the streets to protest against unpaid salaries.
Security guards from the three major public hospitals, such as Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, and DHQ Hospital blocked Murree Road, causing heavy traffic jams and disrupting daily movements. The protest also affected hospital operations.
The protestors said they have not been paid for the past three to four months. They further added that it is extremely difficult to manage household expenses during a time of high inflation. Many of them stated that they are often paid delayed salaries.
According to the guards, a private company named Screamble Security Company owned by PML-N MPA Ziaullah Shah has not paid them salaries for the past three months.
They claimed that the company pays them around Rs45,000 per guard each month but they only receive half of the payment while the company retains the other half.
The protestors raised slogans against Ziaullah Shah for not paying their dues and demanded Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz to take immediate notice of the situation and ensure that their salaries are paid timely.
However, so far the hospital administrations have not publicly responded to the demands of the security guards.
The protest not only disrupted traffic but also affected hospital services, creating difficulties for patients and staff.
