US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said during his press conference that the ceasefire between the US and Iran is not over yet. He also said, “Iran cannot be allowed to block innocent countries and their goods from an international waterway.”
Pete Hegseth said Project Freedom — the U.S. effort to guide commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz — is separate from Operation Epic Fury.
He described it as a temporary step and added that the waterway matters more to the rest of the world than to the United States.
Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign minister said the recent violence shows there is no military solution to the war. He warned that the U.S. and its regional partners should be careful not to get pulled back into a prolonged conflict by others.
Two U.S. Navy destroyers passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday while avoiding Iranian drones and missiles, U.S. defence officials told CBS News. U.S.
Central Command said two American-flagged commercial ships also crossed the strait under “Project Freedom,” a plan launched by President Donald Trump to ensure safe passage.
U.S. Central Command said American forces destroyed six Iranian boats that tried to disrupt the commercial ships. Later, Donald Trump said the number was seven.
However, Iran’s state news agency IRNA denied the claim and said none of its “fast boats” were destroyed on Monday.

Earlier, the United States War Secretary, Pete Hegseth, said during his press conference that, “our goal is clear that Iran will not have nuclear weapons.”
Pete Hegseth also said, while mentioning the Strait of Hormuz, that the US has full control and no ship can even enter or exit without the US’s permission.
He also said that Europe also need the Strait of Hormuz.
