The Scotland men’s cricket team has linked with the former Captain of the Pakistan National Team, Azhar Ali in a consultancy role.
The details surfaced on Friday and according to them, Cricket Scotland issued an appointment that confirmed his appointment.
In Scotland’s cricket Nepal tour Azhar Ali will serve in the role of consultant. The next assignment of the Scotland side will be ICC CWCL2 series.
Scotland in the league fixtures will be facing United States and Nepal. Azhar has shown satisfaction with his role and said that he is looking forward to working with the Scotland team.
Azhar Ali further revealed that he had a strong association with the Scottish cricket in his early career days.
He said that he was excited about further support in the development of a talented squad.
Head of Performance at Cricket Scotland, Steve Snell, has said that the inclusion of Azhar Ali will bring valuable international experience to the side.
According to him Azhar Ali will be providing a different perspective and strengthening the team environment during the tour.
Azhal Ali is one of the most successful cricketers in Pakistan. He has captained both the international ODI and test side of Pakistan.
He has also been a member of the Men’s National Selection Committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Azhar Ali made his test debut for Pakistan in July 2010 against Australia at Lord’s. He did not debut just as a batsman but also as a part-time leg break bowler.
He also became the first ever centurion and then double centurion and then triple centurion in the same day and night test match against West Indies in October 2016. He scored 302 runs.
He held the record for the highest ever individual score in an innings of a day/night Test match which was later surpassed by David Warner in November 2019 who scored an unbeaten 335.
