Under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor, the second phase of Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarship was launched. It was launched with the inauguration of the Pakistan Education Expo 2026 at a local hotel in Dhaka.
The Pakistan High Commission in Bangladesh organised the program in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC).
Pakistani universities and higher education institutions sent 20 representatives to attend the event. These representatives presented scholarships and study opportunities to Bangladeshi students.
The Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor started after the visit of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar to Bangladesh in August 2025. During the visit he announced 500 scholarships for Bangladeshi students.
According to the officials from the both countries the initiative reflects a broader effort to strengthen bilateral ties through youth engagement, education and academic exchange.
The inauguration of the Expo was done by the Education Minister of Bangladesh, Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon.
The Education minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon also spoke during the occasion and said that Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor will open new avenues for research and educational cooperation between the two countries.
This will also further strengthen bilateral academic relations.
The decision of Pakistan to offer fully funded scholarships to students of Bangladesh was praised by the education minister. He said that the initiative would create new opportunities for young people seeking higher education abroad.
Imran Haider, Pakistan’s high commissioner to Bangladesh, called the program a landmark step in building long term institutional and academic partnerships between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
According to him Bangladeshi students had already begun studies at leading Pakistani universities under the first phase of scholarship program.
He also hoped that the increased educational exchanges would further improve people-to-people ties.
