Recently, Samina Ahmed appeared in an interview with Beyond with Behjat, where she called for the empowerment of women in Pakistani dramas and defended different storylines.
Samina Ahmed stated, “Some dramas are only for entertainment purposes. We have a trend of portraying household narratives such as saas-bahu conflicts and domestic issues. However, we also present issue-oriented stories that address topics like child marriage, watta satta (exchange marriages), and women empowerment. We produce all such dramas.”
“Yes, we do not address serious issues in every drama because we create so many dramas that go beyond a variety of content. Some are designed purely for entertainment, while others focus on serious issues. If we are producing 50 dramas daily, not all 50 will be good, but some will stand out and gain international acclaim,” she continued.
The veteran actress further said, “At present, we are developing diverse content. We are also producing tribal narratives that show themes of violence and revenge. Like society, we are progressing, and we cannot confine ourselves to a single type of story.”
