The Corporate Crime Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency, in collaboration with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, conducted a targeted operation that resulted in the sealing of 20 shops and the arrest of 21 individuals in Denso Hall due to the suspected illegal sale of medicines.
As reported by an FIA spokesperson on Wednesday, this operation was initiated based on confidential information regarding the Denso Hall market, where shopkeepers were reportedly engaged in the sale of “Not for Sale” medicine samples and medications intended for disadvantaged individuals.
The spokesperson indicated that the detained shopkeepers lacked valid licenses for the sale of pharmaceuticals.
During the operation, medicines valued at millions of rupees were seized, the spokesperson further noted.
The FIA also stated that measures would be taken against the illegal network and facilitators involved in this trade.
Ten life-saving medicines declared faulty
Similarly in February, ten well-known medicines, including life-saving drugs, sold in Punjab, were declared faulty. The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) imposed an immediate ban on specific batches of the concerned medicines.
According to sources, samples of the medicines were sent to a drug testing laboratory for testing, where the report found the quality of 10 medicines to be extremely poor.
The medicines declared substandard included those used in the treatment of allergies, heart diseases, skin infections, colds, and eye conditions.
