Governor Sindh reaffirms commitment to boost exports, 9% Basmati rice rebates

Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi has stated that the government is dedicated to offering all possible support and incentives to the export sector.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is also implementing special measures for rice exporters, which will further increase exports.

He described the decision to provide a 9% rebate on basmati rice exports and a 3% rebate on non-basmati rice exports as a groundbreaking initiative by the Prime Minister.

These comments were made during a meeting with the Executive Committee of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) at REAP House in Karachi.

The meeting involved comprehensive discussions regarding rice exports, the promotion of trade activities, and the challenges encountered by the export sector.

The Governor of Sindh said that boosting exports is crucial for the stability of the national economy and urged Pakistani rice exporters to strive for inclusion among the top ten exporters globally.

He also mentioned that the creation of an Export Cell is a significant advancement, and he is willing to serve as its representative.

The delegation informed the Governor of the issues, policy challenges, and the necessity for government assistance.

Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi assured that the concerns of rice exporters would be put first and that every possible support would be provided.

Abdul Rahim Jano reaffirmed his commitment to increasing rice exports beyond $3 billion, highlighting substantial growth in Pakistani rice markets in China, Iran, African nations, and the UAE.

Later, Abdul Rahim Jano presented a commemorative shield to Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi on behalf of REAP.
