Auditions start for the next James Bond

Auditions for new James Bond starts

The search for the next actor to play James Bond has officially started, ending years of speculation following Daniel Craig’s departure from the iconic role.

In a statement, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that the casting process for the new 007 is now under way.

According to reports by Variety, auditions have quietly been taking place in recent weeks. The studio said it would not reveal details during the selection process but promised updates for Bond fans at the appropriate time.

It has been five years since the release of No Time to Die, Craig’s final appearance as the famous British spy. Meanwhile, around 15 months have passed since Amazon MGM Studios took creative control of the Bond franchise, reported BBC.

The studio has already confirmed that Denis Villeneuve, known for directing Dune, will helm the next Bond movie. The screenplay will be written by Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders.

Variety also reported that renowned casting director Nina Gold is leading the search for the next Bond actor. She has previously worked on major franchises including Paddington, Star Wars and Jurassic Park.

Several actors are currently being discussed as possible contenders for the role.

Among the bookmakers’ favourites is Callum Turner, known for the Fantastic Beasts films and the TV drama The Capture. Australian actor Jacob Elordi is also considered a strong candidate after performances in Euphoria and Saltburn.

Other names linked to the role include Harris Dickinson, Henry Cavill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Theo James.

However, industry observers say producers could still surprise audiences by selecting a completely unexpected choice as the next 007.
