The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a rain and hailstorm alert for the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
NDMA has issued forecasts regarding the weather conditions in different regions of Pakistan during the next few days, according to which rain and thunderstorms are expected in the northern regions, while in the southern regions of the country.
According to the official notification issued by the NDMA on May 18, rain and hailstorms are expected in various parts of KP from May 18 (midnight) till May 23, while similar weather is expected in various parts of Punjab and Islamabad.
The areas predicted for rain and hailstorms in Punjab and KP include:
Punjab/ Islamabad (Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad/ Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Khushab, Joharabad, Bhakkar, Layyah, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahuddin, Sialkot, Narowal)
KP (Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Malakand, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Balakot, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Peshawar, Bajaur, Mohmand, Orakzai, Khyber, Kohat, Kurram, Hangu, Waziristan, Bannu, Laki Marwat, Karak)

Gilgit Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Guanche, Shigar)

Similarly, rain and hail are also expected in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned that heat intensity will increase in Sindh, South Punjab and East Balochistan from May 19.
According to NDMA, from May 19 to 26, temperatures may cross 42 degrees Celsius in some places, resulting in increased health problems.
The NDMA spokesperson urged citizens to avoid going out unnecessarily in the intense sun, use excess water and avoid dehydration and salt depletion.
The authority has also warned that rising temperatures could also increase the risks of melting glaciers and landslides in northern areas.
