With Eidul Azha just around the corner, soaring temperatures across the country have raised serious concerns over heatstroke and illnesses among sacrificial animals, leading veterinarians to issue an urgent advisory for citizens ahead of the festival.
According to veterinary experts, sacrificial animals should not be tied under direct sunlight.
Instead, they should be kept in shaded, airy, and well-ventilated areas, while a constant supply of clean and cool water must be ensured to protect them from extreme heat.
Experts have also advised citizens to avoid taking animals outdoors during the afternoon hours, when temperatures are at their peak. Regularly sprinkling water on animals can help reduce heat stress, while keeping animals at a safe distance from one another in open spaces is essential to prevent suffocation and the spread of disease.
Veterinarians warned that rapid breathing, restlessness, weakness, and abnormal body temperature are among the major symptoms of heatstroke in animals. In such situations, the animal should immediately be shifted to a cooler place, provided with water, and treated by a veterinary doctor if required.
Experts have appealed to the public to take proper care of sacrificial animals during the ongoing heatwave to protect them from the harmful effects of extreme weather ahead of Eidul-Azha.
