Light drizzle reported in Federal Capital as weather turns pleasant

Rain turns weather pleasant in Islamabad

Light rain was reported in some parts of the Federal Capital, Islamabad, on Wednesday, bringing a welcome drop in temperatures and a pleasant change in weather conditions.

According to early observations, scattered showers moved across different areas of the city, easing the recent spell of warm and dry weather. The rainfall created a cooler atmosphere, with residents enjoying overcast skies and drizzles in various neighbourhoods.

The weather remained very hot and dry in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, a light rain-thunderstorm occurred at a few places in Islamabad.

On the other hand, the National Emergency Operations Centre of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert forecasting rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail across various parts of the country over the next 12 to 24 hours.

According to the agency, bad weather is expected in several cities across Punjab, including Islamabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, and Mandi Bahauddin. Rain and strong winds are also forecast for various districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan.

The report further states that rain is also likely in parts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Chaman, and Pishin. Thunderstorms have also been predicted in various areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The NDMA alert warns that hail and lightning in some areas may damage weak structures, trees, power lines, and standing crops. The rainfall may also cause slippery roads and disrupt traffic flow.

The NDMA has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, drive carefully, and follow weather updates and official instructions. Tourists and travellers are also urged to check the weather and road conditions before travelling to northern areas.
