The three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Australia is set to commence tomorrow, Saturday, with the opening fixture scheduled at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
After suffering a whitewash in the Test series against Bangladesh, the Green Shirts now turn their attention to the 50-over format as they host Australia on home soil. The shift in format and opposition presents a fresh challenge for the Pakistan side as they look to bounce back.
The opening match of the series will take place at Pindi Cricket Stadium tomorrow, while the second and third ODIs will be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The visiting side’s concerns have increased further with the exclusion of Mitchell Marsh. Despite recent setbacks, the Shaheens have a strong opportunity to dominate the relatively weakened Australian side at home.
The Australian team, led by Josh Inglis, includes key players such as Alex Carey, Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, and Adam Zampa. Meanwhile, Pakistan will field a blend of senior and young players in the series, with Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub not part of the squad.
Although Australia holds the advantage in head-to-head encounters, Pakistan are considered the favourite for this series. The first ODI between the two teams will begin at 4:30 PM on Saturday.
Pakistan previously defeated Australia in a series on the same ground in 2022, and again in Australia in 2024. They will be aiming to secure another series victory and complete a hat-trick of wins against the Kangaroos.
