Web desk: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited Peshawar today, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the visit, he met a Jirga of tribal elders and later received a detailed briefing at Headquarters 11 Corps.
The briefing covered the security situation, operational readiness, and ongoing counterterrorism efforts along the Pak-Afghan border.
Speaking to the Jirga, the Field Marshal Asim Munir praised the tribal people for their strong support of the security forces during the recent standoff with the Afghan Taliban.
He paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in the fight against terrorism.
The tribal elders assured full support to the Armed Forces against terrorism and the Afghan Taliban.
The Field Marshal Asim Munir said Pakistan wants peace with all its neighbours, including Afghanistan, but will not allow cross-border terrorism from Afghan soil.
He noted that despite repeated terrorist attacks from Afghanistan, Pakistan has shown patience and made many diplomatic and economic efforts to improve ties.
He added that instead of taking action against Indian-backed terror groups, Fitna Al Khwarij and Fitna Al Hindustan, the Afghan Taliban regime has been supporting them.
The Field Marshal Asim Munir assured the elders that Pakistan, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will be cleared of terrorists and their facilitators.
The tribal elders appreciated Field Marshal Asim Munir for speaking openly and reaffirmed their commitment to peace.
They said the ideology of Fitna Al Khwarij has no place among the tribes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On arrival, the Field Marshal Asim Munir was received by the Commander Peshawar Corps, reported the ISPR.
