The world famous athlete Cristiano Ronaldo is once again on top of the 2026 Forbes highest-paid athlete ranking list with estimated earnings of $300 million during the last year.

The Portuguese superstar won the No. 1 position for the fourth straight year and sixth time in his career with his highest annual earnings ever.

At the age of 41, the forward is currently playing for Al-Nassr football club and has made about $235 million from his salary and on-field activities.

He also earned approximately $65 million from endorsements, sponsorships and business ventures.

Ronaldo’s legacy goes beyond the pitch. He has made an increasing number of investments in football business, having bought a 25 per cent stake in UD Almería earlier this year.

He has not only a huge following just on Instagram, but his commercial appeal is unmatched across the world with over one billion fans on various social media platforms.

The football legend also has many lucrative partnerships, such as Binance, Nike, and Perplexity.

Nutrition firm Herbalife also announced that Ronaldo put $7.5 million into its health technology arm, HBL Pro2col Software LLC, which helped to drive up the firm’s stock price.

Canelo Álvarez, the Mexican boxing champion, was second on the Forbes list with $170 million, followed by Lionel Messi in third place with $140 million in earnings.

Other athletes that joined him in the top ten were basketball stars LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, as well as baseball sensation Shohei Ohtani, golfer Jon Rahm, footballer Karim Benzema and Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.

The rankings highlight the continued connection between the elite sports performer and the global brand power, investment and business ventures to achieve record-breaking incomes.
