FM Asim Munir played key role in US-Iran negotiations, says Iranian envoy

Asim Munir key role in US-Iran negotiations Iranian envoy

The Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri, said that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir played an important role as a key negotiator between the US and Iran.

Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has said that Iran is ready for negotiations, but its national interests must be protected.

He stated that Iran has never bowed before the United States or the West, adding that it would continue to defend its sovereign position. He also remarked that it was a “miscalculation” to believe Iran could be distracted through negotiations while actions were taken against Hezbollah.

The Iranian envoy said that the US President has claimed Iran should not even enrich uranium. He clarified that uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes is different from its use for nuclear weapons, stressing that Iran’s nuclear programme is for peaceful objectives.

Reza Amiri Moghadam further said that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir played an excellent role in efforts related to negotiations. He also expressed gratitude to the people of Pakistan for their support.

Earlier, Reza Amiri Moghadam said that the sincere efforts by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir will promote lasting peace in the region.

The envoy took to the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, praising the efforts by PM Shehbaz and the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

“A few minutes ago, the Honourable Pakistani Minister of Interior, my dear brother H.E. Mohsin Naqvi, congratulated me on the achievements of the negotiations with the officials of my country after returning from Tehran,” he stated.

“With conservative optimism, we can hope that, if the other side is adequately committed, a positive stride is taking shape which is the result of the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran based on dignity, the steadfastness of the courageous armed forces and the resistance of the brave Iranian nation, as well as the initiative and dedicated endeavours of the Pakistani mediator,” he added further.
