Authorities have decided to expand the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) by increasing the number of examination cities, according to reports on Thursday. The step is expected to make the test more accessible for students and reduce travel difficulties.
According to the official details, MDCAT will be conducted in three additional cities this year.
MDCAT 2026 exam centres
New examination centres will be established in Mianwali, Layyah, and Bahawalnagar. The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has been directed to make the necessary arrangements for the new centres.
With this expansion, the number of cities hosting MDCAT will increase from 12 to 15. The total number of examination centres will also rise from 26 to 32. Students are expected to benefit greatly from this change.
Officials have also said that the decision was taken to help students by bringing examination facilities closer to their homes.
They added that the move would reduce long distance travel and make the admission process more convenient.
The MDCAT examination is scheduled to be held on August 16. Earlier, officials reported that 743 MBBS and BDS seats remained vacant across the country.
MDCAT 2026 exam date
PMDC has officially announced the date for the mandatory MDCAT required for admission to medical and dental colleges.
The official notification further stated that this year’s examination syllabus will remain the same as the one issued last year.
In addition to this, the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) MDCAT 2026 for Army Medical College and other affiliated Combined Military Hospitals (CMH) institutions will be conducted on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Earlier, PMDC announced new conditions regarding the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) entry test.
According to the details, the MDCAT has made biometric verification of students mandatory in the entry test to be held this year.
