In a video interview released on the social media platform X, Shadab spoke about his return to ODI cricket, his recovery from injury, and the prospects of the current national team.

Representing national team always brings unique feeling

Pakistan cricket team all-rounder Shadab Khan has said that representing the national team always brings a unique feeling. However, he added that along with the excitement of a comeback, there is also added pressure, and it is important for players to prepare themselves mentally for it.

Shadab Khan said that in the modern era, social media plays a significant role in influencing players. However, he does not allow external criticism or noise to affect his performance.

According to him, if a player becomes affected by negative comments, their fighting spirit on the field is weakened.

He emphasised that self-confidence and courage are essential for success in international cricket.

He further said that he believes in his hard work and effort, while the outcome is in the hands of Allah Almighty, so he does not let the opinions of others determine his future.

Recalling his injury and surgery period, the all-rounder said there was a time when he feared he might not be able to play cricket again.

However, the support and encouragement of his family and close friends helped him through those difficult times and gave him the strength to return to the field.

Says 50-over format most challenging format in modern cricket

Talking about ODI cricket, Shadab Khan said that the 50-over format is one of the most challenging formats in modern cricket, as it requires long-term consistency along with the intensity of T20 cricket.

He added that the recent training camp and practice matches have helped him regain his rhythm and achieve the fitness required for ODI cricket.

Shadab Khan further said that Pakistan has no shortage of talented players and that there is a good mix of young and experienced players in the squad.

He expressed hope that the national team can deliver better results based on its abilities and self-confidence.

He added that the Pakistan team needs to adopt a “never give up” attitude like Australia. “The Australian team continues to fight until the very end, and this is a quality that the Pakistan team can also adopt effectively.”
