In a recent interview during Bloomberg Live, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma discussed her first 100 days in the role and shared her vision for the next 100 days, offering some intriguing insights as the new CEO.
Sharma took this chance to emphasise how the new Xbox team has achieved a lot to begin reviving Xbox, noting the introduction of many new features, a price drop for Game Pass, and a renewed connection with the dedicated fanbase.
When questioned about her aspirations for Xbox by 2030, she expressed her desire for Xbox to become the number one company in gaming and entertainment.
“I would love to see us become the number one gaming and entertainment company.”
Xbox CEO to reset the gaming company
Looking ahead, the Xbox leader mentioned that the upcoming 100 days will focus on resetting the business.
This summer, the priority will be to discover ways to return to growth and ultimately draw in as many people to Xbox as possible.
She added, “We’ve done so much to start to revive Xbox. We’ve shipped more in the last 100 days than we have in the last year. We’ve been able to reset Game Pass after an eight-month decline, it’s now returned to growth and expanding retention, and most importantly we’re starting to get back to being closer to our players and our community.”
Earlier, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma said that ‘tough decisions’ were on the horizon as the brand dealt with supply challenges, changing strategies, and low consumer confidence.
She criticised previous Xbox Game Pass choices for negatively impacting subscriptions but mentioned that a recent price reduction for the Ultimate tier has helped improve retention.
